Parterre Noir
Parterre Noir is a one-of-a-kind porcelain wall installation exploring contrast, depth, and shadow through sculptural floral form. Hand-sculpted in matte black porcelain with subtle charcoal-gray edges, the composition reveals quiet variation and dimensional nuance as light moves across the surface. Each element is individually formed, creating a rhythmic interplay of scale and texture that feels both grounded and expressive.
The installation is composed of ten sculptural porcelain forms, each shaped and layered by hand in my studio. The unglazed surface maintains a soft, velvety finish, allowing the natural tonal shifts of the clay body to emerge. Slight variations in color and edge definition are inherent to the material and firing process, lending the work a sense of movement and individuality.
As pictured, Parterre Noir measures approximately 30 x 42 inches, though the layout is flexible and can be adapted to suit a variety of wall dimensions. A custom installation template is provided with purchase and can be adjusted upon request to ensure proper spacing and placement for your space.
This installation includes two 11-inch sculptures, two 9-inch sculptures, two 8-inch sculptures, two 7-inch sculptures, and two 5-inch sculptures. Each piece is crafted from high-fired porcelain for durability and longevity. All necessary hanging hardware and detailed installation instructions are included.
